JOB DESCRIPTION AND POSITION REQUIREMENTS:

Toward that end, Student Affairs invites applications for an Assistant Director at, the Center for Spiritual & Ethical Development at the Pasquerilla Spiritual Center.

The Assistant Director, Center for Spiritual & Ethical Development provides a variety of advocacy services at the Center for Spiritual and Ethical Development (https://studentaffairs.psu.edu/spiritual) for the religious/spiritual student organizations and students at Penn State. This position advocates for the protection of religious freedom and works with students and groups that may experience bias and other challenges.

Role Responsibilities:

+ Assist in creating a supportive environment and offering high-quality services on behalf of a diverse student population in collaboration with others in the work unit and University community.

+ Assist students with acclimation to the University environment by designing and implementing support initiatives for a variety of populations that include but are not limited to international, under-represented, low-income, first-generation, students with disabilities, women, LGBTA, and multicultural students.

+ There is a large international population and many religions and spiritual practices taking place at the chapel and spiritual center as well as throughout campus.

+ This position may assist with selecting students who will receive scholarships.

+ Provide information and advice to the Commonwealth campuses of Penn State.

Key Duties:

+ Design, oversee, and implement programming and services that support the representation, engagement, or success of religious/spiritual students.

+ Responsible for recruiting and engaging students interested in or involved in religious and spiritual life.

+ Serve as a subject matter expert and resource for other units and student-centered offices throughout the University regarding religion in higher education.

+ Analyze data to identify factors that affect participation in religion and spirituality and then apply findings to the management of policies, programs, and resources.

+ Develop, coordinate, and manage multiple complex projects; may develop and manage project budgets.

+ Build relationships with diversity organizations, on and off campus, that can enhance the religious and spiritual life of students and their overall experience.

+ May conduct unit or department-wide cultural assessments and contribute to outreach and education efforts aimed at increasing cultural literacy diversity awareness; present and deliver awareness programs.

+ Serve as the college liaison with the University's multicultural community.

+ May identify current and potential funding sources; prepare grant proposals; develop funding partnerships.

+ May supervise staff members, including hiring, development, and performance management.

Qualifications:

+ Typically requires a Master's degree and 6+ years of relevant experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.

The salary range for this position, including all possible grades is:

$51,000.00 - $74,000.00
