JOB DESCRIPTION AND POSITION REQUIREMENTS:
Penn State Altoona seeks highly motivated and responsible students to serve as Lion Guidez during the Summer 2024, Fall 2024, and/or Spring 2025 Semesters.
Lion Guidez is a blended peer mentoring and coaching program designed to assist first year students with their transition from high school to Penn State. Beginning the summer before classes and continuing throughout the academic year, Lion Guidez provide support, information, and guidance to entering first-year students as they make the transition to University life and work toward their personal and academic goals.
Job Duties
+ Lion Guidez will participate in paid training during Summer 2024 which will prepare them to serve in several peer mentoring roles on campus, starting in August 2024 with possible continuation throughout the 2024-2025 Academic Year .
+ Lion Guidez will establish peer mentoring relationships with students in one-on-one and/or group settings and cultivate a productive and helpful relationship by providing advice, support, and answers to student questions about University life.
+ I n August, serve as a member of the Orientation Leader team, participate in all aspects of OL training, and help welcome new students to our campus community via the established welcome events.
+ Provide support to key offices on campus that assist students in their transition to college. Lion Guidez will work especially closely with the student success center, and may work with the director of the student success center to help students with finding the resources they need to answer their questions.
Lion Guidez receive an hourly pay of $12/hr and will work about 5-10 hours per week. The schedule will vary during the summer months. Review of application will begin April 15, 2024.
