Senior Accounting Manager - Lease Accounting

The Lease Accounting & Analysis Team is part of Microsoft’s Corporate Accounting organization. The team is responsible for the accounting, analysis and reporting of all lease transactions in the Company’s comprehensive quarterly report of financial performance **(** 10Q) and a comprehensive annual report filed with the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission (10K) in accordance with lease accounting standard (ASC842) and ensuring compliance with the Company’s International Financial Reporting Standard (IFRS16) reporting requirements. The team partners closely with accounting and finance teams supporting the designing, building, and operation of cloud data centers and offices worldwide, accounting for leases covering a broad business scope including data centers, offices, server and networking equipment. As our supported businesses grow, the team remains innovative, leveraging technology for continuous process improvement.

We are looking for a **Senior Accounting Manager - Lease Accounting** to join the team.

**Responsibilities**

In this **individual contributor** role, the responsibilities are outlined:

+ Prepares and reviews lease accounting records in compliance with accounting policies and guidelines. Interprets reports and records for managers/stakeholders. Investigates and resolves business partner inquiries, accounting deviations, and other data anomalies. Drives analysis based on data trends.

+ Prepares and reviews lease inputs into financial statements and drafts disclosures for regulatory accounting filings. Provide support for audits.

+ Fields complex questions from business partners in alignment with accounting standards, guidelines, and policies accounting policies.

+ Contributes to process-improvement efforts by collecting and reviewing business partner and team feedback and incorporating industry best practices.

+ Identifies, evaluates, and leverages technology that could automate or speed up internal processes.

+ Performs gap analysis and helps business process owners design, implement and perform operational and financial controls for Sarbanes-Oxley Act (SOX) cycles.

**Qualifications**

Required/minimum qualifications:

+ Bachelor's Degree in Business, Accounting /Finance, or related field AND 4+ years accounting or finance experience

+ OR Master's Degree in Business, Accounting /Finance, or related field AND 3+ years accounting or finance experience

+ OR equivalent experience.

Additional or preferred qualifications

+ Lease accounting, administration and analyses, and controls for multinational companies transacting in multiple currencies.

+ Professional accounting certification such as CPA or equivalent.

+ Master's Degree in Business, Accounting /Finance, or related field AND 6+ years accounting or finance experience OR Bachelor's Degree in Business, Accounting /Finance, or related field AND 8+ years accounting or finance experience OR equivalent experience.

+ Experience in applications such as Excel and PowerBI.

+ Large scale Enterprise resource planning (ERP) experience e.g. System Applications and Products (SAP)

+ Leasing tool experience such as Costar

+ Cross group collaboration, excellent interpersonal skills, passion to drive execution and results across multiple teams and business partners.

+ Demonstrated ability and willingness to dive into details and get things done.

+ Ability to deeply understand, anticipate issues, prioritize and define a course of action in evolving areas.

Accounting IC4 - The typical base pay range for this role across the U.S. is USD $94,600 - $183,800 per year. There is a different range applicable to specific work locations, within the San Francisco Bay area and New York City metropolitan area, and the base pay range for this role in those locations is USD $122,000 - $200,500 per year.
