Position Summary

Under the supervision of the Manager, screens, triages and assesses persons with alcohol and other drug dependency problems and orients new patients to the treatment program.

COMPETENCIES:

  • Education: Associates degree in Mental Health/Human Services or related discipline, or equivalence in college credits
  • Knowledge:Knowledge of the use and scoring of addiction assessment instruments and relevant screening tools. Knowledge of diagnostic systems. Knowledge of crisis intervention techniques.
  • Skills: Interpersonal skills necessary for effectively working with patients, doctors, staff, outside organizations and other health care facilities. Requires strong written communication and documentation skills. Strong organizational and time-management skills.
  • Required Licensure, Certification, Etc.: Must have current certification by the Maryland Board of Professional Counselors as a CAC-AD, CSC-AD or Addiction Counselor Trainee.
  • Work Experience Requires a minimum of one year of experience in the assessment and/or treatment of substance abuse patients.

Salary Range: Minimum 22.66 per hour - Maximum 37.41 per hour. Compensation will be commensurate with equity and experience for roles of similar scope and responsibility.

In cases where the range is displayed as a $0 amount, salary discussions will occur during candidate screening calls, before any subsequent compensation discussion is held between the candidate and any hiring authority.
