**A Day in the Life**

At the general direction of a senior member of the Health Economics and Outcomes Research (HEOR) team, this position is responsible for providing health economic and health services research analytical expertise to support the development of evidence for Surgical Operating Unit.

This position will provide exposure to HEOR principles, concepts, practices, and standards in medical device industry practices. Individual develops solutions based on established precedents and policies to achieve the overall objectives and long-range goals of the HEOR team.

Responsibilities may include the following and other duties may be assigned.

+ Design and analyze studies using administrative health care claims data, hospital data and device-derived data to understand clinical characteristics and outcomes, health services utilization, treatment patterns and costs associated with the use of surgical products, services or patients indicated for such therapies. Analysis may be used to support evidence development, federal agency (FDA, CMS) requests, clinical trial design, and reimbursement market trends.

+ Assist the development and dissemination of evidence in the form of reports, abstracts and manuscripts based on the analyses described above.

+ Modify, or implement economic models using inputs from clinical and observational data research, literature review, and clinical or stakeholder expertise.

+ Collaborate with clinical researchers to add relevant health outcomes and economic endpoints to clinical trials, analyze and report study results.

+ Execute and generate visualization dashboards (Tableau or PowerBI).

+ Develop SAS macros and prepare documents.

+ Support HEOR operating and tactical work

+ Designs and implements observational and economic research studies that provide value, perspective and evidence for clinical and/or pre-clinical product portfolio decisions, marketing, regulatory agency submissions, and product reimbursement strategies.

+ Compares and evaluates the value of products and therapies with the clinical, economic, and quality of life outcomes data from clinical trials and/or epidemiology studies, registries, observational studies, modeling, surveys and meta-analysis.

+ Develops country specific evidence to meet requirements for optimal reimbursement coverage and usage.

+ Works closely with market access to help develop strategies and pricing programs, and standardize best practices.

+ Works with clinical research to add relevant health outcomes and economic endpoints to clinical trials and biostatisticians to analyze and report study results.

**Required Knowledge and Experience:**

+ Bachelor’s Degree with 2 years of experience in HEOR, health informatics or analytics

OR

+ An advanced degree with 0 years of experience

**Nice to Have**

+ HEOR experience with Medtronic

+ Experience with administrative healthcare data analysis or electronic health record data analysis.

+ Strong analytic skills; experience with statistical methods for handling large observational database.

+ Strong experience with statistical programming (SQL/SAS).

+ Experience with data wrangling process.

+ Experience with data visualization tools (Tableau, Power BI).

+ Experience/interest in medical device industry.

+ Experience/interest in health insurance or health care delivery industry.

+ Experience/interest in health policy.

+ Experience/interest in real-world surgical procedures.

+ Experience with economic modeling.

+ Excellent oral, written, presentation, and communication skills.

+ Ability to work effectively in a highly matrixed organizations.

+ Relationship-building and maintaining skills with internal and external stakeholders, including physician customers, hospital administrators, or payers.

+ Broad perspective and understanding of business issues related to medical devices and/or pharmaceuticals.

+ High productivity level as evidenced by ability to effectively prioritize tasks.

Salary ranges for U.S (excl. PR) locations (USD):$73,600.00 - $110,400.00

This position is eligible for a short-term incentive called the Medtronic Incentive Plan (MIP).

The base salary range is applicable across the United States, excluding Puerto Rico and specific locations in California. The offered rate complies with federal and local regulations and may vary based on factors such as experience, certification/education, market conditions, and location. Compensation and benefits information pertains solely to candidates hired within the United States (local market compensation and benefits will apply for others).
