Launch Vehicle Propulsion Project Engineer

ManTech is recruiting a highly talented **Project Engineer specializing in Launch Vehicle Propulsion** with skills and background related to launch vehicle manufacturing, mission assurance, and operations to help the Space Force redefine the future of Assured Access to Space (AATS), supporting the existing AATS United Launch Alliance (ULA) fleet and bringing new entrant Launch Service Providers such as ULA Vulcan, SpaceX, and Blue Origin into the Space Force AATS portfolio.

We are seeking experienced and energetic candidates to join our team in Centennial, CO. This position supports United States Space Force (USSF) Space Systems Center (SSC) launch services for AATS missions.

**General Responsibilities:**

+ Provide LV systems engineering expertise at our Denver, CO offices.

+ Areas of expertise: Launch Vehicles (LVs), Cryogenic Systems, Electrical/Mechanical/Pneumatic Systems, Propellant Supply Systems, solid rocket motors (SRMs), LV liquid rocket engines (LREs), ordnance, or launch operations

+ Plan, coordinate, participate, lead Engineering Review Boards, provide risk assessments and technical recommendations.

+ Prepare status and readiness review packages including risk recommendations and mitigations

+ Review and analyze launch vehicle propulsion system design, manufacturing, test, & launch data.

+ Produce integrated technical assessments on design, test, manufacturing, and operations.

+ Support acquisition functions: requirements, RFPs, source selection, data submittals, award fees.

+ Perform systems engineering functions such as requirements definition, design review, test review, pedigree, hardware acceptance, verification, operations, and post-flight analyses.

+ Prepare Customer team for, and directly support, rehearsals and launch operations, including the anomaly resolution process.

+ Perform technical and engineering data management, such as data mining and reporting.

+ Collaborate with Aerospace Corporation, Launch Vehicle Contractors (LVCs), Launch Sites, production factories.

+ Prepare weekly and other written evaluations and reports of a technical nature.

+ Serve as authority in LV GSE systems; support USSF customers in the preparation for and execution of Chief Engineer briefings, Weekly Status Reviews, and other SSC processes.

+ Execute customer process improvement initiatives on behalf of the ULA product line

+ Serve as authority in LV Mission Assurance processes system design; support USSF customers in the preparation for and execution of Chief Engineer briefings, Weekly Status Reviews, and other SSC processes.

**Basic Qualifications:**

+ Bachelor's Degree or higher in Mechanical or Aerospace Engineering or STEM field.

+ Minimum of 12 years systems engineering, technical program management, or other related experience with at least 3 years of AATS, Launch/Range, DoD, NASA or industry equivalent launch or space systems project engineering experience.

+ Knowledge/experience with LV systems (solid rockets motors, liquid propellant rocket engines and systems, ordnance, hydraulics, in-flight avionics, LV ground support equipment, LV structures, composite materials, etc.)

+ Knowledge of USAF and NASA launch and range systems and operations.

+ Experience with LV design, processing, integration, testing, launch and anomaly resolution.

**Preferred Qualifications:**

+ Knowledge of Atlas, Delta and/or Vulcan system design, manufacture, test, and operations preferred.

+ Experience with USSF, NRO, NASA, and LV Contractors and subcontractors preferred.

+ Ability to assess design drawings, processes, and procedures of propulsion systems.

+ Ability to work across multi-disciplinary teams during design, test, and evolution.

+ Ability to perform design reviews, pre- and post-test reviews, procedures reviews, failure analysis.

+ Ability to collaborate effectively with the USAF, USSF, NASA, NRO, LVCs, and Aerospace Corp.

+ Ability to work effectively with Los Angeles AFB (SMC) Launch Enterprise.

+ Ability to (learn how to and) operate DOL data systems and provide training to customers and colleagues to support polling, status reporting, and anomaly resolution.

+ Ability giving written and verbal presentations and reports to senior engineers and management.

+ Independence, initiative, dedicated, collaborative, proactive problem solving and customer support

+ Sound judgment, decision-making, and collaboration w/multiple agencies and personnel.

+ Excellent verbal and written communication skills and diplomacy.

+ Experience with agile software products, such as Jira/Confluence, highly desired

+ Competency in MS Office, Information Technology systems, and SharePoint-type databases

**Clearance Requirements:**

+ Position requires a **Secret clearance** (N/R to start). Must to be able to obtain and maintain a Secret clearance.

**Travel:**

+ Frequent travel to CONUS required to LAAFB (El Segundo, CA), VSFB (Lompoc, CA) and CCSFS (Florida), and other sites to support launch meetings and operations.

**Physical Requirements:**

+ Must be able to remain in a stationary position 50%.

+ Needs to occasionally move about inside the office to access file cabinets, office machinery, etc.

+ Constantly operates a computer and other office productivity machinery, such as a calculator, copy machine and computer printer.

+ Frequently communicates with co-workers, management and customers, which may involve delivering presentations. Must be able to exchange accurate information in these situations.
