**Summary:**
This role will provide patient greeting and/or reception functions for the various areas across the Diagnostic Services areas. This role will also manage the scheduling of inpatients in a manner that minimizes the time between order placement and exam completion, import and catalogue external images into the PACS system and provide daily reports relevant to operations. As a Patient Coordinator, understands and integrates into the delivery of patient care in regards to their growth and development process. The position actively supports the Hospital’s and Department’s Continuous Quality Improvement and customer service goals, individually and as an effective team member. Exemplifies the Rush mission, vision and ICARE values and acts in accordance with Rush policies and procedures

• Strong interpersonal and communication skills.

• Working knowledge of department and Medical Center preferred but not necessary
**Responsibilities:**
• Communicates outpatient arrivals and waiting issues to technical sections.
• Documents the arrival time of the outpatients in the Radiology Information System.
• Performs check-in process for outpatients, including assistance with orders, wristbands and labels.
• Confirms demographic information for outpatients.
• Creates, edits and scans patient registration documents.
• Obtains e-signature for HIPAA and Financial Responsibility Agreement.
• Edits patient visit number for billing accuracy.
• Assumes ownership of patients and family members in the waiting areas, ensuring they are communicated to and are aware of status of procedures and delays.
• Assists with escorting patients to the technical areas for their appointments.
• Schedule inpatient Radiology procedures in a manner that minimizes turnaround time (order placement – exam complete) and maximizes resource utilization. Initiate consultation where necessary.
• Negotiate scheduling of STAT procedures.
• Acquire transport/dispatch information.
• Enter dispatch info into transport system for all inpatient studies.
• Coordinate the scheduling of multiple exams across sections within Radiology in a manner that minimizes the number of trips to the department for the patient.
• Participates in the training of new hires or the cross-training of staff to new and/or revised procedures.
• Applies departmental and Medical Center procedures and guidelines for scheduling and phone etiquette.
• Reviews radiology orders for completeness of information.
• Assists with appointment confirmation calls.
• Processes importing of external images into the institutions PACS archive as per workflow and policy,
