An excellent career opportunity is currently available for a Technology Service Specialist within the Technical Services department of UOP's Lifecycle Solutions and Technologies (LST) business unit located in Des Plaines, US. This position plays a key role in completing the transfer of UOP's technology in order to keep UOP-licensed or UOP-designed units operating safely & profitably. There is regular interaction with UOP's external customers and with UOP. Key responsibilities include:
The specialist provides technical support for a range of UOP technologies, primarily focused on FCC, Alkylation & Treating.
Our customers are both external (licensee/operating companies, Engineering Procurement & Construction ('EPC') contractors, vendors and consultants) and internal (Field Services, CSO, R&D, Engineering, and Business groups).
The primary accountability of the position is to complete the transfer of our technology in order to deliver to our customers' UOP-licensed or UOP-designed units that operate optimally, profitably and safely. To do so, the Specialist will have regular interaction with those external customers, and with other UOP personnel involved in technology delivery projects.
In addition to customer contact, the position provides interaction with all the UOP departments involved with technology delivery, e.g.; R&D, Sales/Sales Support, and Engineering.
The interaction with other UOP departments provides excellent exposure as well as providing knowledge of accountabilities in other areas. Technology Services is an excellent career position with opportunities to advance to higher grade levels as well as a career path to other departments, e.g. CSO, R&D, and Engineering.
Fixed Accountabilities:
-Participate in R&D technology improvement projects.
-Champion changes & improvements in technologies supported via innovation [MOIs].
-Serve as the focal point for office-based support of new unit and revamped unit startups from pre-commissioning through guarantee acceptance.
-Participate in customer meetings
-Participate in Engineering review meetings for new units and revamps including Design Basis, PFD, P&ID, MFD, Plot Plans, HAZOP, -Model Reviews, and others.
-Review, analyze and provide feedback on commercial unit operating data and other commercial information/experience.
-Provide both office-based and on-site troubleshooting assistance to commercial units.
-Conduct on-site commercial unit audits.
-Prepare and update general operating manuals, process technology manuals, and training materials and present UOP technology training courses both in the US and abroad.
Relative Accountabilities:
-As opportunities arise, author MOIs for processes within your area of responsibility.
-Become Six Sigma Green Belt certified and apply tools and techniques to improvement projects.
-Help prepare material for and participate in, Technical Symposia and Sales Meetings.
The annual base salary range for this position is $120,000k-$150,000. Please note that this salary information serves as a general guideline. You Must Have
-Bachelor’s degree from an accredited institution in a technical discipline such as the sciences, technology, engineering or mathematics
-10+ years’ experience in FCC, Alkylation & Treating gained from UOP Field Operating Service, UOP Engineering or a Refinery in process operations, technical services, or engineering design.
