**Overview**
As an ER Nurse at CHI St. Alexius Health Devils Lake, now part of CommonSpirit Health formed between Catholic Health Initiatives (CHI) and Dignity Health, you’ll be the first touchpoint to the people in our community during health emergencies.
No two days in emergency nursing are ever the same. You’re a multitasker who can react quickly as you’ll prioritize patients based on their medical necessity while you’re providing emergency triage to others. As part of our ER team, you’ll partner with an experienced clinical team to deliver stabilizing care to our patients by performing IV starts, foley catheter insertions, or aiding providers with chest tube insertions.
To thrive as an ER nurse, you should exhibit teamwork, professionalism, critical thinking skills, and a willingness to take on additional projects such as patient experience initiatives. More than anything, you should be energetic and motivated to provide quality care to all of our patients, maintaining their dignity at every step.

CHI St. Alexius Health Devils Lake Hospital is a 25-bed Critical Access Hospital accredited by The Joint Commission licensed by the North Dakota State Department of Health and certified by the Department of Health and Human Services for participation in the Medicare Program. **Responsibilities**
+ Use emergency triage protocol to intake, discharge or admit patients.
+ Deliver stabilizing care to emergency patients of all ages as part of the larger ER team, adapting care to changes in patient’s condition as needed.
+ Use knowledge of cultural differences to provide patient care that is sensitive to and consistent with cultural values, beliefs, and customs. Document the nursing care plan and changes in the patient's condition.
+ Engage in other activities that will benefit patient outcomes, such as patient experience initiatives, mentoring, etc.
+ Performs and documents appropriate nursing assessment related to chief complaint, coordinates disposition of patient (discharge, admission, transfer to another facility).
+ Demonstrates knowledge of EMTALA requirements, including medical screening exam.
+ Demonstrates knowledge of cardiac monitoring, identifies arrhythmias and treats appropriately.
+ Activates emergency plans when appropriate (Code Blue, Trauma Code, Disaster 1-2-3 Green, Adam 12)
+ Demonstrates appropriate use of ACLS guidelines and procedures Defibrillation/cardioversion
+ Pacing
+ Medication administration
+ Airway management
+ Demonstrates knowledge and management of critically ill or the major trauma patient, identifies hemodynamic status and treats appropriately.
+ Demonstrates knowledge and management of specialty procedures (central lines, intubation, pericardiocentisis, chest tubes).
+ Demonstrates correct titration of drugs as ordered (nitro, dopamine, cardizem, sedation).
**Qualifications**
+ Graduate of an accredited nursing program.
+ Active North Dakota (ND) Registered Nurse License, compact state RN licensure accepted.
+ Compact RN license holders must obtain North Dakota licensure within 90 days of start date, if employee resides in the state of ND.
+ American Heart Association (AHA) Basic Life Support (BLS).
+ ACLS, TNCC, NRP, and PALS trained.
**Pay Range**
$32.08 - $46.51 /hour
