SCOPE OF POSITION
The Director of The Children's Center is responsible for the day to day operations of the child care center. The function of the Director is to provide the center with effective programs, to implement the goals and objectives of the center through the program, to provide services to families of Ballad Health, and to supervise the day to day implementation of the child care programs.
The Director is responsible for strategic planning in support of the Ballad Mission and Vision; developing long-term and short-term goals and objectives; equipment selection and evaluation; personnel selection and training; assignment, development and evaluation of staff; and customer relations with the parents of The Children's Center children. The Director is responsible for ensuring that Ballad policies are consistently observed, and for the development and implementation of appropriate departmental policies and procedures.
The Director is accountable for compliance with all state and federal guidelines put forth by the Department of Human Resources. The Director is accountable for practicing fiscal responsibility by developing realistic annual operating and capital budgets, conserving resources, and monitoring expenditures to ensure they remain within budgeted parameters. The position is responsible for flexing staffing to comply with state child/teacher ratios during the period of operation.
The Director will ensure that building and equipment are regularly inspected and maintained in optimum operating condition. This position is responsible for maintaining the qualified and competent staff needed to provide quality service and for monitoring the activities of this staff. They are responsible for monitoring ongoing educational opportunities, including attendance at organization-wide programs.
The Director is responsible to see that staff is treated with dignity, fairness, and consistency, within the guidelines set forth in the Ballad Human Resources Policies and Procedures. The Director is accountable for maintaining harmonious interactions between departmental personnel and their customers. The Director is expected to set an example for all team members of commitment and loyalty to Ballad by openly supporting and participating in organizational projects and events. The Director is accountable for maintaining and developing leadership skills through ongoing education. The Director must be self-motivated and serve as a strong team leader and mentor.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
The Director must be a graduate from an accredited four-year college with a degree in Early Childhood or related field in child development or education. A master's degree in Education is preferred. A working knowledge of business as well as child development, early childhood education, health and safety, and administration is required for this position.
The Director should have worked in an early childhood environment for at least 4 years and have previous classroom teaching experience. Experience with supervising staff is required. Supervision skills could have been developed in other settings other that hospital and childcare centers. However, training and experience must be in the child care industry
