Chartwells Higher Education is seeking a dynamic General Manager to oversee Concessions, Premium Catering, and Athletic Dining for the University of Houston! Key Responsibilities:
Operational Excellence: Direct the day-to-day food service operations across multiple locations on campus, ensuring smooth, efficient performance.
Team Leadership: Supervise and inspire managers, supervisors, and food service workers; coordinate hiring, training, and development of frontline staff.
Financial Accountability: Manage budgets and achieve sales goals, completing all financial reports accurately and on time.
Client & Guest Relationships: Build and maintain strong relationships with clients and guests, regularly seeking feedback to continuously improve operations.
Innovation & Implementation: Execute menus, promotions, and concession programs while adhering to Chartwells' operational standards.
Event Readiness: Conduct daily walkthroughs of front-of-house (FOH) and back-of-house (BOH) areas to ensure operational readiness for every event.
Compliance & Policies: Uphold responsible alcohol service policies and ensure compliance with all safety and health regulations.
Special Projects: Take on additional duties as assigned to support the success of the department and university.
Preferred Qualifications:
+ Bachelor’s degree preferred or equivalent professional experience.
+ 8-10 years of upscale food service experience with at least 6 years in a management role.
+ Strong catering experience required.
+ Proven management experience in concessions, bars, or related areas.
+ Expertise in personnel management, including hiring, supervision, evaluation, and succession planning.
+ Ability to supervise, train, coach, and develop team members effectively.
+ Experience with food purchasing, cost control, and inventory management.
+ Ability to create and manage budgets, financial forecasts, and flash reports.
+ Knowledge of HACCP controls, food safety standards, and compliance with health and fire regulations.
+ Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
+ Knowledge of cash handling procedures and reconciliation of cash reports.
+ ServSafe or Department of Health certification is a plus.
+ Strong attention to detail and ability to multitask effectively in a dynamic environment.
+ Exceptional business etiquette, client relationship management, and ethical behavior.
