The Leidos Human Health and Performance Contract (HHPC) has an excellent opportunity for a **Payload Systems Enginee** **r** in Houston, Texas at NASA Johnson Space Center (JSC).
The Research Operations and Integration (ROI) Rack Payload Systems Engineer (PSE) supports International Space Station (ISS) human research science operations at JSC/NASA Mission Control. This position is responsible for preflight and real-time engineering support and serves as the technical expert for research racks which house science hardware and consumables.
Responsibilities of this role include software testing, verification, documentation, and implementation of systems level engineering elements needed to prepare hardware and procedures for in-flight experiments. The PSE will also assist in the preparation of facilities for crew training activities and provide training to crew on Human Research Facility hardware. As a member of the increment ground control team on console in Mission Control, the PSE is responsible for: monitoring the health and status of all active onboard equipment and real-time software with which to control functionality of the Human Research Facility Rack, hardware and software anomaly resolution, and science data management. The PSE acts as the subject matter expert for all Facility hardware and engineering activities required to prepare and support mission operations on the ISS.

Primary Responsibilities
+ Support console shifts (typically second and third shifts) in the Telescience Support Center at JSC, as required, for Research, Operations, and Integration (ROI) experiment sessions.
+ Serve as primary contractor point of contact to the MSFC Payload Rack Officer (PRO) and interface with the Data Management Coordinator and other Huntsville Operations Support Center (HOSC) personnel.
+ Write test plans, hardware operating procedures, and mission data requirements.
+ Create, maintain, and publish the Increment- specific Data Requirement Document.
+ Review Change Requests (CRs) and assess for impacts to Hardware and Data Operations products and/or documents.
+ Serve as engineering subject matter expert for in-mission operations and anomaly resolution.
+ Command functionality of the on-orbit Human Research Facility (HRF) Rack in support of crew operations.
+ Provide training to Ground Support Personnel and crew members on HRF Rack operations.
+ Perform data management for data collected on-orbit, distribute data to web-based data repository for PI access, and conduct testing and verification activities.
+ Serve as liaison to ROI hardware and software teams.
Minimum Requirements
+ Bachelor of Science in Engineering, Biomedical Engineering, or closely related field, and 3+ years of relevant experience.
+ Demonstrated experience solving complex problems and working to develop solutions quickly.
+ Strong interpersonal communication skills (both written and oral)
+ Ability to thrive in a dynamic work environment and perform duties in a visible role during highly challenging situations.
+ Collaborator and team player with the ability to adapt with competing priorities.
+ Ability to work various overnight shifts and occasional holidays/weekends.
+ Proficiency in MicroSoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint
Preferred Experience
+ Prior experience supporting NASA programs
+ Programming skills (Visual Basic, .NET, or C#)
+ Data networking knowledge (encryption, network security, wireless access points, routers, firewalls, switches)

**Pay Range:**
Pay Range $65,000.00 - $117,500.00
