One of our most challenging new fields is Microelectronics Design and Applications (MDA), which combines the unique properties of superconductivity and quantum mechanics to develop radical new energy-efficient computing systems. The Test Platforms (TP) department is seeking a **Systems Engineer** to join our Integration and Test team to enable these high-performance computing systems. You’ll work on a fast-paced team in a lab environment alongside system integrators, design engineers, RF engineers, and test physicists to bring these technologies to life.

**This position will serve on-site at Advanced Technogical Laboratory (ATL) in Linthicum/ Annapolis Junction, MD** **_._**

**What You’ll get to Do:**

+ Support the installation, integration, and testing of Commercial-Off-The-Shelf (COTS) and custom cryogenic system electrical equipment used to advance research efforts of superconducting microelectronic devices.

+ Identify, troubleshoot, and remediate equipment issues to support system build-out and sell-off. Lead system hand-off to internal customers.

+ Communicate project status to the Test Platforms (TP ) Integration and Test (I&T) Capability Lead.

+ Collaborate with research scientists and systems engineers to perform system architecture characterization studies on various system components.

+ Design, develop, and implement testing methods for individual hardware (both custom and COTS) and entire systems.

+ Compile data and help to define changes required in testing methodology, equipment, testing procedures, manufacturing processes, and new testing requirements.

+ Create performance requirements and test procedures to validate system performance.

**This position is contingent upon an active DoD TS/SCI with poly clearance.**

**Basic Qualifications for Systems Engineer:**

+ Bachelor's degree in a STEM discipline with 2 years of experience, a Master's degree in a STEM discipline with 0 years of experience.

+ This position requires the applicant to be a U.S. citizen with the ability to obtain and maintain a TS/SCI with poly clearance per business requirements.

+ Working knowledge in one of the following languages: MATLAB, Python, C, or C++.

+ Working knowledge of standard test equipment: network analyzers, oscilloscopes, waveform generators, synthesizers, digitizers, and/or signal analyzers.

+ Working knowledge of RF cable networks.

+ Working knowledge of standard electrical design components: filters, couplers, splitters, mixers, amplifiers, etc.

+ Demonstrated problem solving and troubleshooting skills.

+ Demonstrated ability to use basic hand tools.

**Preferred Qualifications:**

+ Active TS/SCI with poly security clearance.

+ Experience in creating system requirements and writing test procedures.

+ Background in lab or field testing.

+ Familiarity with cryogenic test systems: dilution refrigeration, 4 Kelvin cryo-coolers, Adiabatic Demagnetization Refrigeration (ADR), and liquid helium emersion.

Salary Range: $85,400.00 - $134,200.00

The above salary range represents a general guideline; however, Northrop Grumman considers a number of factors when determining base salary offers such as the scope and responsibilities of the position and the candidate's experience, education, skills and current market conditions.

Depending on the position, employees may be eligible for overtime, shift differential, and a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives. In addition, Northrop Grumman provides a variety of benefits including health insurance coverage, life and disability insurance, savings plan, Company paid holidays and paid time off (PTO) for vacation and/or personal business.
