As a Senior Data Platform Engineer at the P3 level, you will contribute to the design, development, and maintenance of scalable and reliable data platforms while embracing the unified engineering philosophy. You will take ownership of the full development lifecycle, from requirement gathering and design to deployment and monitoring in production. This role demands strong technical skills, leadership abilities, and a passion for collaboration and innovation.
Key Responsibilities:
Data Pipeline Development:
+ Design and develop scalable ETL/ELT pipelines using modern tools like Apache Beam, Google Dataflow, Dataproc, and BigQuery to support seamless data processing and integration.
+ Optimize pipelines for performance, reliability, and cost-effectiveness.
Data Infrastructure Ownership:
+ Build and maintain robust, scalable, and high-performing data platforms, including data lakes, warehouses, and real-time streaming systems.
+ Ensure platform reliability, security, and scalability through proactive monitoring and infrastructure improvements.
Software Development:
+ Write clean, maintainable, and efficient code following industry best practices and design patterns.
+ Implement observability from the ground up, ensuring all systems are testable and monitored effectively.
Architectural Design:
+ Lead or participate in design reviews for new data features and systems, ensuring scalability, reliability, and maintainability.
+ Collaborate with cross-functional teams to align architectural decisions with business goals.
Code Quality & Mentorship:
+ Conduct thorough code reviews, maintaining a high standard of technical excellence.
+ Mentor junior engineers, fostering a culture of learning and continuous improvement.
Service Health & Troubleshooting:
+ Monitor and maintain the health of services using telemetry and performance indicators.
+ Diagnose and resolve technical issues promptly, conducting root cause analyses to prevent recurrence.
Testing & Automation:
+ Build testable data systems and implement automated testing frameworks using tools like PyTest or JUnit.
+ Utilize CI/CD pipelines for efficient and reliable deployments.
DevOps & Ownership:
+ Work in a DevOps model, owning the full lifecycle of data solutions from design to production deployment and support.
Continuous Learning & Innovation:
+ Stay updated with emerging technologies, advocating for their adoption where beneficial.
+ Drive innovation in data engineering by implementing modern frameworks and practices.
Qualifications:
+ Education: Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related technical field.
+ Experience: 5+ years of professional experience in software engineering including 2+ years of experience in data engineering. Proven expertise in building and managing scalable data platforms.
Technical Skills:
+ Proficiency in Java, Python, and at least 1 more programming language.
+ Expertise in data tools and frameworks like Apache Beam, Google Dataflow, BigQuery, and Dataproc.
+ Strong knowledge of SQL, data modeling, and database systems (e.g., BigQuery, PostgreSQL, MongoDB).
+ Experience with real-time data streaming technologies such as Kafka or Apache Flink.
+ Experience with containerization (e.g., Docker) and orchestration (e.g., Kubernetes).
+ Problem-Solving Skills: Exceptional analytical and problem-solving abilities with experience in debugging and optimizing complex data systems.
+ Collaboration & Communication: Strong communication and interpersonal skills with a proven ability to work effectively in cross-functional teams.
Preferred Qualifications:
+ Familiarity with advanced analytics platforms, specifically Looker.
+ Experience with agile development methodologies and working in a DevOps model.
+ Proven ability to mentor and guide junior engineers.
+ Commitment to continuous learning and professional development.
+ Has 2 years' experience as a unified engineer.

The pay range for this position is $109,000 to $156,700, however, base pay offered may vary depending on skills, experience, job-related knowledge and location. This position is also eligible for a short-term incentive and a long-term incentive as part of total compensation.
