Database Administrator- Junior

**Job Description**

BAE Systems in Mechanicsburg, PA is seeking an entry level Database Administrator who will support the logistics teams for the US and UK Trident II Strategic Weapons System, the US Columbia Program, and the UK Dreadnought program. This position will support the Logistics Data Warehouse (LDW), which is a software system utilizing a Data Warehouse/Decision Support tool to enable customer oversight of logistics processes as well as generation of logistics products. The position will support the Logistics Data System (LDS) which is a software system that supports maintenance requirements for the Trident hull, mechanical, and electrical requirements. The position will also support the Comprehensive Logistics Automated Support Program (CLASP), for the UK s Vanguard class of ballistic missile submarine fleet and their configuration and supply management requirements. This position will assist in all phases of database management, including requirements definition, design, code, test, implementation, and documentation. This position will also participate in customer working group meetings, perform data analysis, review customer policy documents, and conduct special studies and investigations for development of new information systems to meet current and future project needs under the guidance of senior database administrators. Some travel is required.

**Required Education, Experience, & Skills**

Education and years of related/relevant work experience required: Bachelor s degree in computer science, Information Systems, Computer Engineering, Database management or Mathematics or similar. Some database administration experience, preferred, but not required.

Additional skills/experience required:

+ Understanding of administration of database management systems (DBMS) such as Oracle, MySQL, or Microsoft SQL Server

+ Knowledge of database design and development concepts

+ Familiarity with database performance tuning and optimization techniques

+ Ability to work well with cross-functional teams.

+ Demonstrated self-motivation and ability to work independently.

+ Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.

+ Excellent problem solving skills.

+ Willingness to learn business operations of a complex logistics software enterprise.

+ Familiarity with SQL and database scripting languages such as T-SQL, PL/SQL, or SQL*Plus

**Preferred Education, Experience, & Skills**

+ Knowledge and experience with U.S. Navy submarine logistics.

+ Ability to gather and translate user requirements into automated solutions, and analyze complex business requirements.

+ Ability to formulate detailed specifications for software engineering process.

+ Experience with Data Warehousing.

+ Experience using ETL software, preferably Informatica Power Center.

+ Experience using BI software, preferably Oracle Analytics Server (OAS).

+ Experience using RDBMS, preferably Oracle.

+ Experience using Unix.

+ Knowledge of Model Based System Engineering (MBSE).

+ Patching and STIGs (Security Technical Implementation Guides

+ Experience with database testing and quality assurance processes

+ Familiarity with Agile development methodologies and version control systems such as Git

+ Certification in database administration or a related field is a plus

+ Oracle Wallet experience and UNIX knowledge/scripting

+ Understanding of data security and privacy principles, including access control and encryption.

+ Familiarity with data backup and recovery procedures.

+ Knowledge of cloud computing platforms such as AWS, Azure, or Google Cloud Platform.

+ Strong problem-solving and analytical skills, with the ability to troubleshoot and resolve complex database issues.

+ Experience with DB backups and restores using RMAN or similar tools

+ Experience with DB partitioning and db-links

**Pay Information**

Full-Time Salary Range: $61820 - $105050

However, individual salaries are determined by a variety of factors including, but not limited to: business considerations, local market conditions, and internal equity, as well as candidate qualifications, such as skills, education, and experience.
