Northrop Grumman Defense Systems is currently seeking a **Manager Engineering Technical Support 2** to support our Armament Systems Business team in our Mesa, AZ office

**Role Description & Responsibilities:**

The Manager Engineering Technical Support 2 is responsible for leading and managing a group of 5-10 designers in support of the Mesa engineering group in new and existing product designs for small and medium-caliber cannon systems. The manager will oversee the design group to ensure that accurate CAD models and drawings are produced that conform to industry and company standards. They will actively monitor the daily operations of the design group and proactively address and resolve design-related challenges.

The manager will also be responsible for the training and development of their staff, estimating personnel needs, assigning work, and interpreting and ensuring consistent application of organizational policies. They will report to the Mechanical Engineering Manager and fully support all engineering activities.

**Job Duties:**

+ Assignment of work to direct reports, and oversight of in-process tasks

+ Performance and salary/bonus reviews

+ Timecard and overtime approval

+ Monthly 1-on-1 meetings with direct reports

+ Mentoring and coaching of team members to enhance their skills and career development

+ Recruiting and staffing to meet department resource needs

+ Direct interaction with Engineering leadership, project engineers, mechanical engineers, Configuration Management, Quality, and other functional departments

+ Facilitation of cross-functional communication and problem solving

+ Development, implementation, and maintenance of efficient design processes and standards

+ Support of Engineering continuous improvement projects

+ Weekly reporting on completed, past due and on-hold tasks

+ Attendance of high-level meetings with Teamcenter POCs, NX Siemens, and CAD Board.

+ Site administrator for Teamcenter, new hires, resolution of stagnant projects, etc.

+ Support of design team with drawing checking and detail design work as needed

**Experience Requirements:**

+ Minimum 5 years of mechanical, mechanism, or machine design experience with High School diploma or equivalent.

+ Demonstrated progression in leadership responsibilities over 5+ years, with 10+ years preferred

+ Demonstrated advanced understanding of design and drafting principles, theories, and techniques associated with aerospace or defense sector projects

+ Experience with medium-caliber cannon systems and/or small-caliber firearms is a plus

+ Hands-on experience working on machines and mechanisms is a plus

+ Experience with electromechanical devices such as motors, cables, and electronics packaging is a plus

**Skills & Qualifications:**

+ Must have excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to present complex technical information clearly

+ Must have proven ability to collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams

+ Must have strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with a focus on continuous improvement

+ Must be proactive and results-oriented, with a strong sense of ownership

+ Must have demonstrated proficiency with NX CAD and Teamcenter software

+ Must have expert-level proficiency with GD&T per ASME Y14.5

+ Experience in tolerance stacking is a plus

+ Familiarity with AGMA standards is a plus

Salary Range: $122,800.00 - $184,200.00

The above salary range represents a general guideline; however, Northrop Grumman considers a number of factors when determining base salary offers such as the scope and responsibilities of the position and the candidate's experience, education, skills and current market conditions.

Depending on the position, employees may be eligible for overtime, shift differential, and a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives. In addition, Northrop Grumman provides a variety of benefits including health insurance coverage, life and disability insurance, savings plan, Company paid holidays and paid time off (PTO) for vacation and/or personal business.
