Commissioning Manager

The Cloud Operations + Innovation (CO+I) Commissioning team is responsible for managing the end-to-end delivery of new data center capacity for CO+I. Through development of leading program management and construction processes, this team is chartered with managing workflow across vertically and horizontally aligned project managers and virtual teams to successfully deliver multi-million dollar, multi-year data center construction programs. As a **Commissioning Manager** , you will work with the commissioning team, data center architects, engineers, construction managers, network engineers, data center operations teams and finance teams to streamline and improve delivery of data center capacity. You will execute against scope, schedule, and budget to deliver the latest generation of datacenter technology to Microsoft’s Online Services. You will be support for ensuring projects are commissioned in accordance with Microsoft's standards: supporting projects in Mount Pleasant, WI (north of Chicago, south of Milwaukee), as well as supporting program-specific commissioning work in other Regions.

This position is for individuals entering the field or specialty of Commissioning (Cx). It serves as a support role to the commissioning leads, with potential for growth into a lead position.

**Responsibilities**

**Business Processes**

+ Reports to the CO+I Director of Commissioning- Program Lead

+ Functions as technical support to the director and on-site Commissioning Managers, with secondary responsibilities including support of other similar commissioning projects across the Americas (AMERs).

+ Coordinate with Commissioning Agents, general contractors and other project team members to maintain best practices to identify and incorporate quality and cost-effective solutions.

+ Develop and maintain commissioning program level reports, procedures and standards.

+ Support commissioning processes, scope, and schedule.

**Commun** **ications**

+ Coordinate with the Cx team, client representatives and partners to align program-level procedures, scope, schedule, and budget.

+ Attend project meetings (remotely), and report findings to management, as necessary.

+ Support the team reporting on project progress including scope, schedule, and budget weekly or as required.

+ Attend Cx team standardization meetings, to develop new Cx standards.

**Accountability**

+ Set up new projects in the Cx software, and continuously learn and improve the setup process.

+ Manage the program-level Cx document library, including supporting the development and organization of project documents.

+ Develop and improve Cx documents, tools, reporting and trackers.

+ Work independently in support of the CO+I Program.

**Strategy and Development**

+ Support data center commissioning project delivery strategy in alignment with the CO+I road map strategy.

+ Refine practices/policies and develop methods/techniques for driving solutions including development of commissioning procedures.

+ Provide input to long-term delivery strategy and incorporates requirements into the project execution plans.

**Vendor Management and contract compliance**

+ Provide manager support with Vendor oversight and performance management.

+ Support the preparation of RFP's, PER's, and other project approval tools & templates.

**Qualifications**

**Required/Minimum Skills & Qualifications:**

+ 7+ years relevant technical engineering experience including; mechanical, electrical, or controls systems testing,

+ OR Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical Engineering, Materials Engineering, Reliability Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or related field AND 3+ years technical engineering experience

+ OR Master's Degree in Mechanical Engineering, Materials Engineering, Reliability Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or related field AND 2+ years technical engineering experience.

**Preferred/Additional Qualifications**

+ Construction Industry Experience

+ Project Management

+ Experience working Proficiency with MS Office (Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint), MS Visio, MS Project, PowerBI, and/or PowerApps

+ Familiar with standard mechanical and electrical system equipment to include: electrical distribution equipment from switchgear down to panelboards, VFDs, low voltage power and molded case circuit breakers, overhead IT busway, Diesel Generators, air handling units, hydronic systems/chilled water systems, water treatment equipment, controls and monitoring, and hot aisle containment accessories.

+ Proven experience driving standards and consensus across teams and disciplines.

Reliability Engineering IC3 - The typical base pay range for this role across the U.S. is USD $98,300 - $193,200 per year. There is a different range applicable to specific work locations, within the San Francisco Bay area and New York City metropolitan area, and the base pay range for this role in those locations is USD $127,200 - $208,800 per year.
