**Job Description**

AECOM is actively seeking a bright and highly motivated Project Engineer and Deputy Project Manager for employment in our Metro New York Water Business Line. This is a project-based engineering position to assist and support the Queens-Brooklyn Tunnel Engineering and Design Services project for the New York City Department of Environmental Protection (NYCDEP). The Position will support project management activities including overseeing technical disciplines and subconsultants on all project phases including Design, Procurement, Construction and Close Out.

The Queens-Brooklyn Tunnel (QBT) project is a multi-faceted design project for the water shaft facilities along the QBT. For this project, two new deep water distribution shafts (Shafts 17B-1 and 18B-1) are currently being constructed to connect to the QBT at a depth of over 700 feet below ground. In addition, two new large subsurface buildings known as distribution chambers are being designed at the top of new shafts along with all electrical, mechanical, HVAC, instrumentation equipment, and large diameter pipelines (72”, 84”). Lastly, retrofits and upgrades to six existing deep water distribution shafts along the QBT will be designed and the full system of eight shafts and the QBT will be disinfected, commissioned and put into final service. This is a long term assignment with design services through the year 2027 and construction through the year 2034. Execution of this project will result in the final completion of the full length of City Tunnel No. 3 project finally after more than 60 years.

The responsibilities of this position include, but are not limited to:

+ Collaboratively work with and oversee multi-discipline design team, subconsultants, and support staff in office and remotely.

+ Develop detailed implementation schedules for design milestones and ensure compliance in meeting schedule deadlines.

+ Oversee the preparation of and help in preparing project deliverables such as drawings, technical specifications, and other contract documents.

+ Oversee the preparation of and help in preparing technical memoranda and workshop presentations,

+ Ensure compliance with and coordinate quality assurance / quality control process.

+ Facilitate project coordination meetings, prepare agendas and meetings minutes

+ Host and moderate meetings for design reviews, workshops, etc.

+ Coordination and oversight of construction services including review of submittals, shop drawings, request for information review, etc.

+ Performs work in accordance with agreed upon budget and schedule with moderate supervision.

+ Assist with project management administration including invoicing, project management reporting, subconsultant contracting, change management, etc.

**Qualifications**

**Minimum Requirements**

+ Bachelor’s degree in civil or environmental engineering with an emphasis in water/wastewater

+ 6 years of experience on water/wastewater projects.

+ Engineer-in-Training (EIT) or Fundamentals of Engineering (FE).

+ Experience developing engineering deliverables such as engineering reports, design drawings, technical specifications, and other detailed engineering deliverables.

**Preferred Skills**

+ Self-starter and ability to take initiative, proactive, problem-solving.

+ Excellent verbal and written communication skills, able to present ideas.

+ Strong attention to detail and accuracy of work with excellent organizational skills.

+ Ability to collaborate and work with a diverse and progressive team.

+ Ability to meet quality, schedule and budget expectations.

+ Ability to multi-task and be flexible while meeting deadlines.

+ Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Power Point).

+ 7 years of project management experience.

+ Experience working with NYCDEP.

+ Professional Engineering License (PE), New Jersey or New York.

Offered compensation will be based on location and individual qualifications. The expected range is $130,000.00 - $155,000.00.
