**Responsibilities**

Oversee medical professional liability claims and litigation for the Ascension Health Alliance Professional Liability and General Liability Self-Insurance Trust. Responsible for case strategy, investigation and oversight of case action plan in collaboration with insured and defense counsel.

+ Investigate and process general and professional liability claims from first notice of loss through resolution including coverage, liability, damage evaluations, caseload management and resolution.

+ Establish reserves based on protocols and authority procedures.

+ Oversee litigation assigned to external counsel pursuant to established guidelines. Manage panel counsel retained for litigated claims.

+ Complete National Claims Committee reports for large loss matters.

+ Collaborate with Risk Management team regarding lessons learned and mitigation efforts.

+ Attend depositions, meetings with insureds, mediations, and trials. Negotiate settlements directlywith patients, plaintiff attorneys and/or direct defense counsel within approved authority.

**Requirements**

Education:

+ High School diploma equivalency with 2 years of cumulative experience OR Associate'sdegree/Bachelor's degree with 1 year of experience OR 5 years of applicable cumulative job specificexperience required.

+ 2 years of leadership or management experience preferred.
