The Flight Simulators group supports Honeywell Avionics products by developing software solutions and integrated simulation applications incorporating avionics software from Honeywell Primus EPIC, Flight Displays, Flight Mgmt (FMS), Enhanced Ground Proximity Warning Systems (EGPWS), TWAS, and Aircraft Surveillance systems.

As an Application Software Engineer in the Flight Simulators group, within Honeywell Aerospace Service & Technology, you will play a crucial role in providing software solutions, technical expertise and support to customers of our Windows based Flight Simulation software and PC based Flight Management System (FMS) applications.

You will play a crucial role in ensuring the successful implementation of FMS software, enabling the simulation of real-world flight scenarios. Join our team and contribute to the advancement of the aviation technology.

Key Responsibilities

You will work with software for Honeywell’s Epic Application Simulation Environment (EASE) and serve as the primary Developer for rehosted software for Primus Epic FMS (Flight Management System), which runs in a Windows environment utilizing a Windows version of the Honeywell's proprietary DEOS operating system.

+ You will be instrumental in providing software solutions, technical expertise and support for customers of our rehosted, Windows based Flight Simulation software, as well as Honeywell PC-FMS , which is a PC based version of the Honeywell Primus FMS (Flight Management Systems).

+ Other related software includes the Enhanced Ground Proximity Warning System and Aircraft Environment Surveillance Systems.

+ Maintain PC based FMS products that allow communication with display hardware and flight training devices in a cockpit environment.

+ Product enhancements and debugging of Windows FMS products used by simulation customers to integrate actual Flight Management software

+ Provide technical expertise and guidance to the team

+ Collaborate with cross-functional teams to develop and implement solutions

+ Manage project timelines, customer commitments, and resources

+ Ensure compliance with industry standards and regulations (cyber & export)

U.S. PERSON REQUIREMENTS

Due to compliance with U.S. export control laws and regulations, candidate must be a U.S. Person, which is defined as, a U.S. citizen, a U.S. permanent resident, or have protected status in the U.S. under asylum or refugee status or have the ability to obtain an export authorization

YOU MUST HAVE

+ Minimum of 5 years in application engineering, software engineering or a similar role

+ Ability to manage multiple projects and prioritize tasks

+ Software skills (e.g. C#, C/C++, Python, Ada, among other languages)

WE VALUE

+ Bachelor's degree in a related Engineering field

+ Experience with Windows development environments and operating systems.

+ Excellent trouble shooting, problem-solving and decision-making abilities

+ Experience with Real-time operating systems

+ Debugging problems with multiple systems and recommending the path to resolution

+ Develop expertise in Honeywell products i.e. Primus Epic FMS, APEX system, and Anthem Flight system

+ Experience in ANY of the following is of value:

+ Knowledge of I/O modules, AFCS, FMS, Displays, ESCAPE registries, DLS

+ Familiarity with aircraft surveillance products MKV, EGPWS, TAWS, TCAS, WXRDR

+ Ability to gather requirements from PVCS, DOORS, and multiple other system

+ Experience with Avionics software programming

+ AECS L2 or L3 Classifier / Approver

+ Simulator environments and tools TATS, PCSim, TIU, EASE, FTD

+ Knowledge of operating systems such as DEOS

+ Experience with Configuration Management

+ Strong leadership skills and the ability to drive results

+ Ability to work effectively in a cross-functional team environment
