Our Opportunity:
Chewy is seeking a Head of Hard Goods/Specialty Finance to join our Finance Team based in Plantation, FL. This is a critical leadership position on the Commercial Finance team where you will partner with our Hard Goods and Specialty (birds, hamsters, horses, etc.) business partners, interface with other business and finance category leaders, and develop business performance reporting and analytics for the businesses. You will also lead budgeting and forecasting processes for the HG/Specialty organization—inclusive of annual planning, interim forecasts, and internal management and Board reporting. The role requires strong analytical and systems skills in addition to the ability to partner with business leadership on setting strategy and long-term goals. You will need the ability to understand the Company’s financial model and strategic goals, while also being very detail oriented. The ideal candidate will also have experience analyzing and evaluating new business opportunities in e-commerce, and/or technology businesses. You will also work alongside several cross functional business leaders to drive analyses and insights. The Head of Finance position will work closely with and report to the Vice President of Commercial Finance, helping to drive continuous improvements to the Company’s forecasting, budgeting, and reporting processes. The role will also work closely with the President of Retail for Chewy.
What You'll Do:
+ Partner with multiple merchant teams across Hard Goods and Specialty to develop business plans and revenue and margin forecasts
+ Lead overall reviews inclusive of Consumables and Premium products for President of Retail
+ Develop and implement reporting and analytics capabilities for the businesses
+ Conduct ad-hoc analyses and scenario modeling to drive decision-making
+ Manage and track financial performance against KPIs, seasonal financial plans, and annual budget
+ Identify and quantify risk or upside due to business environment and provide solutions
+ Lead weekly and monthly business review presentations from a financial perspective, recapping results vs. plan and forecast for management meetings
+ Lead special projects as needed to provide analytical and decision support on new initiatives
+ Partner with various teams throughout the organization (Merchandising, Supply Chain, Marketing) to develop financial models and P&Ls for business concepts, products, services, and external partnerships
+ Drive continuous improvements in profitability, free cash flow, and operational efficiency
+ Anticipate bottlenecks, provide escalation management, anticipate and make tradeoffs, and balance the business needs versus technical and process constraints
+ Create, maintain, and disseminate project status, roadmaps, and documentation to stakeholders
+ Drive effective teamwork, communication, collaboration, and commitment across multiple groups with competing priorities
What You'll Need:
+ Bachelor's degree
+ 8+ years related experience
+ MBA is preferred
+ Results-oriented mentality, highly energetic, dynamic individual with hands-on mentality
+ Entrepreneurial mindset—ability to operate and drive results as a self-starter
+ Strong Communication skills—ability to distill and convey complex information messages clearly and succinctly
+ Demonstrated ability to deal with ambiguity and rapidly changing operating conditions while still delivering to expectations
+ Advanced analytical skills and the ability to drill down to the details, while also seeing and understanding the big picture
+ Demonstrated high degree of competency accessing and utilizing analytical tools, advanced computer literacy
+ Passion for startups, understanding of how startups operate
+ Industry experience in partnering with consumer/retail organizations a plus
+ Technology experience a plus
+ Position may require travel
