The **Azure Security Monitoring Team** builds large scale microservices that collect and process terabytes of data every day to protect and keep Microsoft Azure secure. We are looking for a **Principal Software Engineer** who are passionate about security, ML and building distributed and highly available services. This individual will help in designing and building critical infrastructure which will focus on protecting and securing the compute resources in Azure.

This Hybrid Position is located at our Microsoft office in **Redmond, Washington** . Relocation support will be provided, and successful candidates will need to relocate or reside within 50 miles of the field location. 

**Responsibilities**

• Design, develop and maintain high scale services that form the backbone of Azure Security Monitoring.

• Collaborate with partners, internal and external to Azure Security organization, to design and build features that enable in protecting and securing Azure.

• Work in a culture of continuous learning, adaptation, reflection, and growth.

• Mentoring peers to ensure engineering best practices and code is held at a high-quality bar.

**Qualifications**

**Required Qualifications** :

+ Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, or related technical discipline AND 6+ years technical engineering experience with coding in languages including, but not limited to, C, C++, C#, Java, JavaScript, or Python

+ OR equivalent experience.

**Other Requirements:**

Ability to meet Microsoft, customer and/or government security screening requirements are required for this role. These requirements include but are not limited to the following specialized security screenings: 

+ Microsoft Cloud Background Check: This position will be required to pass the Microsoft Cloud Background Check upon hire/transfer and every two years thereafter.

**Additional or Preferred Qualifications:**

+ Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science or related technical field AND 12+ years technical engineering experience with coding in languages including, but not limited to, C, C++, C#, Java, JavaScript, or Python

+ OR Master's Degree in Computer Science or related technical field AND 8+ years technical engineering experience with coding in languages including, but not limited to, C, C++, C#, Java, JavaScript, or Python

+ OR equivalent experience.

+ Industry experience in MITRE techniques and building threat detections

+ Industry experience in building ML Models based on large volumes of data

Software Engineering IC5 - The typical base pay range for this role across the U.S. is USD $137,600 - $267,000 per year. There is a different range applicable to specific work locations, within the San Francisco Bay area and New York City metropolitan area, and the base pay range for this role in those locations is USD $180,400 - $294,000 per year
