The CSCP Organization is responsible for traditional supply chain functions such as Plan, Source, Make, Deliver, but also manages supportability (spares), decommissioning and disposition of Data center assets worldwide. We deliver the core infrastructure and foundational technologies for Microsoft's over 200 online businesses including Bing, MSN, Office 365, Xbox Live, Skype, OneDrive and the Microsoft Azure platform for external customers. The Cloud Sourcing, Spares, Sustainability & Security (CS4) organization within CSCP manages sourcing and supply of IT hardware for the data centers, and we're seeking a Principal Silicon Sourcing Engineer to join our team. **Responsibilities**
The role of the Principal Silicon Sourcing Engineer will focus on the following key areas:
1. Define and establish Microsoft’s Sourcing strategy for Silicon technologies to drive competitive advantages for Microsoft cloud offerings:
+ Ability to work cross functionally with key internal stakeholders across Roadmap Planning, Silicon Engineering, and Capacity Planning for silicon programs in highly dynamic environments.
+ Drive engagement with our suppliers and internal stakeholders to define Front End opportunities and drive product solutions around design for availability and TCO (Total Cost of Ownership).
+ Establish appropriate sourcing strategy with relevant partners to drive goals of Front End Technology , Cost, Contracts, Quality, Business Health, and Sustainability.
+ Manage strategic initiatives with internal stakeholders and suppliers to support cloud supply chain objectives and strategies.
+ Early engage with cross functional leadership including product management, architect and design engineering and business teams to define requirements and sourcing strategy
+ Foster the partnership with engineering & business partners to identify/influence design and technology selection
+ Develop sourcing strategies to ensure competitive cost advantage and sufficient continuity of supply
+ Manage RFP process and activities to conduct negotiations with suppliers
+ Manage contracting activities with Legal and ensure contract reflect MSFT’s cross functional engagements with suppliers
+ Serve as the escalation point for component supply and/or supplier issues
2. Total Cost of Ownership and Quality management:
+ Identify TCO reduction opportunities and drive supplier for cost competitiveness
+ Understand the key metrics for Microsoft (Pace, power, and price) and negotiate with supplier to exceed expectation
+ Identify and manage de-risking deployment challenges
3. Security, Supply Chain Resiliency, and supplier management
+ Develop and enable new suppliers
+ Analyze financial health of supplier ecosystem and leverage game theory to support partnership recommendations
+ MSFT’s central point of contact of supplier relationship in assigned categories
+ Ensure supplier is committed to Security, sustainability, and social responsibility.
**Qualifications**
**Minimum Qualifications**
+ Master's degree in Business, Supply Chain Management, Engineering, Materials Science, or related field AND 6+ years experience in procurement, supply chain, sourcing, engineering, operations, or relevant sales-related roles
+ OR Bachelor's degree in Business, Supply Chain Management, Engineering, Materials Science, or related field AND 8+ years experience in procurement, supply chain, sourcing, engineering, operations, or relevant sales-related roles
+ OR equivalent experience.
+ 4+ years of experience in technical sourcing, business development, field application engineering, sales, product line management, or in fields requiring technical & business acumen.
+ 3+ years experience in silicon engineering "
**Other Requirements**
Ability to meet Microsoft, customer and/or government security screening requirements are required for this role. These requirements include but are not limited to the following specialized security screenings: Microsoft Cloud Background Check: This position will be required to pass the Microsoft Cloud background check upon hire/transfer and every two years thereafter.
**Preferred Qualifications**
+ 7-10 years' product management, silicon engineering or supplier management experience in silicon product development or high-volume supply chain and or applicable Manufacturing/Hardware production environment.
+ 5+ years of Program Management and data analytics experience.
+ Understanding in the use of MRP, Excel, Power Point, and Power BI.
+ Capable of performing complex data analysis to identify problems or opportunities to improve supply chain performance
+ Communication, problem solving skills - ability to manage competing priorities, set clear expectations, collaborate, identify objectives, develop and deliver feedback in written, oral, and presentation formats for partner teams, and senior executive management.
+ Skills and knowledge in root cause analysis/problem solving and the ability to implement and drive corrective actions and efficiencies (ability to hold people accountable, and drive closure)
+ Ability to work well in ambiguous situations, and deal effectively with conflicting priorities and changes
Sourcing Engineering IC5 - The typical base pay range for this role across the U.S. is USD $137,600 - $267,000 per year. There is a different range applicable to specific work locations, within the San Francisco Bay area and New York City metropolitan area, and the base pay range for this role in those locations is USD $180,400 - $294,000 per year.
