Principal Technical Program Manager, Change Management

As Principal Technical Program Manager, Change Management, you will play a critical role in developing, maintaining, and delivering Microsoft's global standards on Change Management in the Critical Environments (CE) Operations space. This position demands a deep understanding of mission-critical environments and a commitment to delivering global consistency and predictability.

As the governing authority for onsite operations, you will lead efforts to identify and recommend optimal solutions to solve complex problems. Your expertise in electrical and mechanical HVAC infrastructure maintenance and operations change processes will be essential in ensuring that our data centers meet the highest standards of reliability and availability.

Empower Billions! **  ** Microsoft Cloud Infrastructure and Operations (CO+I) is the engine that powers Microsoft's cloud services. The group is responsible for designing, building, and operating Microsoft’s global datacenters; managing the programmatic delivery of our critical infrastructure design, equipment procurement, construction delivery, infrastructure innovation, demand planning and capacity utilization of our unified infrastructure; and responsible for all operations needed to run the physical infrastructure. We focus on smart growth with an emphasis on automation, data-driven engineering, cost‐effectiveness, and environmental sustainability. We deliver the core infrastructure and foundational technologies for Microsoft's 200+ online businesses including Azure, Office 365, Bing, Xbox Live, Skype, and OneDrive.  Our portfolio is built and managed by a team of subject matter experts working 24x7x365 to support services for more than 1 billion customers and 20 million businesses in over 90 countries worldwide.

This role is located either in one or all hub locations - Atlanta, GA, Washington, D.C., Redmond, WA, San Antonio, TX or Phoenix, AZ.

Relocation support will be provided, and successful candidates will need to relocate or reside within 50 miles of the hub office location.

This role is eligible for hybrid or remote work, up to 100%.

**Responsibilities**

In this role, you will have the opportunity to leverage a variety of information sources, including monitoring change impact, risks, evaluating industry trends and best practices, and analyzing customer insights and lessons learned. The role involves establishing a standardized and scalable process for managing change within Operations by leveraging existing processes and tools. You will be responsible for driving a measurable system to manage performance, tracking the quantity of changes released, adoption levels, and the risks associated with non-adoption. The role aims to reduce repeat incidents due to process changes by analyzing root causes and implementing corrective actions, setting specific targets for reduction. Additionally, the aspirational goal is to integrate all change management aspects into a single cohesive system that links planning, execution, tracking, and reporting, ensuring seamless collaboration and providing a unified source of truth for all change-related information.

You will partner with the Operational Change Management Product team and champion the delivery of new developments and implementation of programs developed by our group, and serve as an escalation point for issues identified in the operations of our data centers.

**Qualifications**

**Required/Minimum Qualifications**

+ Bachelor's Degree AND 6+ years experience in engineering, product/technical program management, data analysis, or product development

+ OR equivalent experience.

+ 3+ years experience managing cross-functional and/or cross-team projects

**Other Requirements:**

+ Ability to meet Microsoft, customer and/or government security screening requirements are required for this role. These requirements include, but are not limited to, the following specialized security screenings: Microsoft Cloud Background Check: This position will be required to pass the Microsoft Cloud background check upon hire/transfer and every two years thereafter.

**Preferred Qualifications**

+ Bachelor's Degree AND 10+ years experience in engineering, product/technical program management, data analysis, or product development

+ OR equivalent experience.

+ 8+ years experience managing cross-functional and/or cross-team projects.

+ 1+ year(s) experience reading and/or writing code (e.g., sample documentation, product demos).

+ Relevant certifications in change management (e.g., Prosci Change Management Certification, ITIL) preferred.

+ Extensive experience in change management, particularly in mission-critical environments such as data centers, pharmaceuticals, laboratories, oil & gas environments.

+ Proven track record in leading and implementing change management processes at a global scale.

+ Significant experience in electrical and mechanical HVAC infrastructure maintenance and operations.

Technical Program Management IC5 - The typical base pay range for this role across the U.S. is USD $137,600 - $267,000 per year. There is a different range applicable to specific work locations, within the San Francisco Bay area and New York City metropolitan area, and the base pay range for this role in those locations is USD $180,400 - $294,000 per year.
