Research Engineer - AR/VR Input and Interaction

**Summary:**

At Reality Labs Research (RL-R), our goal is to define and deliver the novel input and interaction solutions to enable virtual, augmented, and mixed reality experiences. We are looking for skilled and motivated engineers to join our research team and help us define the interaction solutions of the future.Our input and interaction research and development lies at the intersection of human-computer interaction, machine learning, signal processing, statistics, and wearable input devices. We are seeking engineers who are passionate about working on the “full stack” of HCI problems, from low-level input processing all the way up to the application and interface. Join our team of researchers, interaction designers, hardware engineers, neuroscientists, and other brilliant minds as we bring a game changing technology to life and make science fiction a reality!

**Required Skills:**

Research Engineer - AR/VR Input and Interaction Responsibilities:

1. Partner closely with research scientists to execute advanced novel sensing, signal processing, and sensor fusion solutions for more simulated physical interactions

2. Explore, experiment with, build and evaluate forward-looking interactions that are uniquely enabled by our novel hardware and sensing technologies

3. Design and implement experiences to explore our input and interaction solutions in a variety of environments and situations

4. Learn constantly, educate others, dive into new areas with unfamiliar technologies, and embrace the ambiguity of problem solving in a collaborative research environment

**Minimum Qualifications:**

5. 5+ years experience in development of real-time interactive solutions in AR/VR, graphics, gaming, UI/UX/HCI or other interactive application areas

6. 5+ years experience developing in C/C++

7. Experience applying machine learning, optimization, or statistical inference to interactive problems

8. Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, relevant technical field, or equivalent practical experience.

9. PhD in CS, HCI, or related field

10. Experience with the research process (e.g., having participated on an academic publication)

11. Experience working on HCI problems with novel/prototype hardware

12. Real time data processing: filtering, smoothing, etc.

13. Experience with developing in Unity, Unreal or other 3D game engine

**Public Compensation:**

$85.10/hour to $251,000/year + bonus + equity + benefits
