**Responsibilities**
+ Create cross-platform Xbox and PC social and matchmaking experiences that feel native to each platform and that emphasize the value of the player journey as well as fairness in each experience
+ Model and validate target ranking and skill experiences. This includes the creation of formulas and mathematical estimations in spreadsheets along with developing interactive prototypes with partner teams.
+ Deliver and update world class multiplayer experiences that keep players connected and safe including voice chat, parties, and multiplayer lobbies with a community first approach
+ Design, validate, and iterate on online multiplayer systems in partnership with UXUI, engineering, design, production, community, user research, analytics, business, marketing, and insights teams
+ Articulate, document, and present key pillars and philosophies around relevant competitive multiplayer game system design trends and recommend ways to evolve Halo's systems while embracing the best elements of the franchise
+ Build and maintain collaborative relationships with all development disciplines to ensure a world-class industry production process that avoids silos and reinforces a unified product vision.
+ Set clear design goals and deliverables, focusing on achieving a high-quality, cohesive experience for all players, on all platforms.
+ Create clear design documentation and review design team documentation for creative alignment, consistency, and completeness.
+ Be a partner with cross-disciplinary performance, user research, community, support, insights, and marketing teams to deliver high quality game systems that drive player excitement and engagement for the long run.
+ Be a consistent source of clarity, positive energy and an exemplar of Microsoft and Xbox values
**Qualifications**
**Required qualifications:**
+ Associate's Degree in Computer Science, Art, Writing, Behavioral Science, Game Design, or related field AND 6+ years experience in game development and design, systems design, content production, or related fieldo OR Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, Art, Writing, Behavioral Science, Data Science, Game Design, or related field AND 4+ years experience in game development and design, systems design, content production, or related fieldo OR equivalent experience.
+ Have shipped at least 1 title released to consumers/shipped game.
+ Have experience around multiplayer matchmaking including telemetry collection / usage, maintaining and balancing/planning large and interconnected systems and player experiences on a cross platform PC and console online title.
+ Have experience working on multiplayer features such as voice chat, parties, and playlists
**Other Requirements:**
Ability to meet Microsoft, customer and/or government security screening requirements is required for this role. These requirements include, but are not limited to, the following specialized security screenings:
+ Microsoft Cloud Background Check: This position will be required to pass the Microsoft Cloud background check upon hire/transfer and every two years thereafter.
**Preferred qualifications:**
+ Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, Art, Writing, Behavioral Science, Data Science, Game Design, or related field AND 7+ years experience in game development and design, systems design, content production, or related field
+ OR equivalent experience.
+ Have shipped at least 1 online title.
+ Have experience working with Unreal Engine tools.
Game Design IC5 - The typical base pay range for this role across the U.S. is USD $117,200 - $229,200 per year. There is a different range applicable to specific work locations, within the San Francisco Bay area and New York City metropolitan area, and the base pay range for this role in those locations is USD $153,600 - $250,200 per year.
