In response to the humanitarian crisis at America’s ports of entry, Devereux provides short-term shelter care services for unaccompanied children who have come to the United States without a parent or legal guardian. Devereux will provide extremely high-quality, trauma-informed residential and educational services for unaccompanied children, with intense supports for their social and emotional health. We will also ensure they receive excellent and immediate physical healthcare including pediatric, dental and nutritional supports for every child.

Devereux’s ultimate goal is to ensure every unaccompanied child who receives our services is successfully and quickly discharged into the loving care of their family sponsor and, during the short time they are with us, have received best-in-class medical, therapeutic, recreational and educational services designed specifically to address the traumas they have sustained during, and often before, their migration journey. This is a very high benchmark to set, but we have already begun partnering with leading legal defense nonprofits to ensure children in our care have access to the finest immigration advocates and supports our country offers.

The Bilingual Case Manager is responsible for case-specific advocacy and case monitoring activities, ensuring the safe and expedited release of children to potential sponsors that meet the Short-term Shelter program criteria for release. The Case Manager, in consultation with clinician(s), is responsible for assessing the needs of each child in care and develops, implements and coordinates the Individual Service Plan (ISP) for each child. The Case Manager reports to the Lead Case Manager. The Case Manager ratio is 1 staff to 8 children.

**Qualifications**

The IDEAL candidate will…

* Possess a bachelor’s degree (behavioral science, human service, or social service field preferred)

* Have the ability to work in conjunction with clinicians and other team members

* Be bilingual in English/Spanish

* Be compassionate, empathetic, and maintain sound boundaries

* Have the ability to create and maintain a therapeutic treatment environment

* Able to attend 10 day in-house orientation during weekdays

* Have a valid driver’s license and minimum 21 years of age
